The Biden - Harris Administration just released the President ' s Budget for Fiscal Year 2025 . They ' re building on the progress they ' ve made so far , like creating millions of jobs and lowering inflation . The Budget focuses on reducing costs for working families , protecting Social Security and Medicare , investing in America , and cracking down on fraud and wasteful spending . President Biden ' s Budget also prioritizes education by investing in strategies and partnerships that will improve outcomes for students . It provides resources for things like improving learning conditions , increasing access to college and careers , and making education more affordable . The Budget requests $82 . 4 billion in funding for the U . S . Department of Education , which will support high - need schools and academic recovery for students . It also includes funding to close opportunity and achievement gaps , as well as support for students with disabilities . These investments will promote access , opportunity , and excellence for all students . In addition , we ' re boosting funding by $5 million for grants for preschool kids with disabilities , $5 million for grants for infants , toddlers , and families , and $10 million for recruiting and keeping special education personnel . We ' re also putting $25 million into the Preschool Incentive Demonstration Program to help schools offer high - quality preschool . We ' re tackling the educator shortage and supporting student mental health by investing $2 . 9 billion in educator training and development . We ' re also putting $200 million into Full - Service Community Schools and $216 million into School Safety National Activities . And we ' re proposing a $25 million investment in colleges and universities to address student mental health needs . Additionally , we ' re increasing funding for the Department ' s Office for Civil Rights by $22 million . We ' re also working on expanding school - based health services through Medicaid and promoting multilingualism and college and career pathways for all students . Gives $940 million , which is $50 million more than last year , to help English learners with effective bilingual education programs . Also allocates $1 . 5 billion for state grants in Career and Technical Education , with an additional $40 million , and invests $57 million in Career Connected High Schools to revamp high schools and align them with postsecondary education . Aims to make college more affordable by raising the maximum Pell Grant award to $8 , 145 , benefiting around 7 . 2 million students . Proposes partnerships between the government and states to make community college free for first - time students and workers seeking to reskill . Plans to reduce college costs through initiatives like expanding dual enrollment and supporting evidence - based strategies . Eliminates origination fees on Federal Direct student loans . Allocates $262 million for postsecondary attainment and student success programs , including grants for Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Tribal Community Colleges , among others . Provides essential support to student loan borrowers and improves student loan servicing through a $2 . 66 billion investment in the Office of Federal Student Aid . The Budget builds on what the President has already done and aims to reduce the deficit by cutting out unnecessary spending and making sure the rich contribute their fair share .
