In advance of the eclipse , the Alliance City Health Department , Canton City Public Health , Massillon City Health Department and Stark County Health Department are advising residents to take appropriate safety measures .
The eclipse is expected to bring in a large increase in visitors and traffic , cause possible limited cell phone service due to increased network use and create increased demand for gas stations , hotels , campsites , restaurants , entertainment facilities and parks .
Be Prepared
With an increased demand for resources expected , residents are encouraged to take action to make sure they are ready beforehand . That includes filling up your gas tank , stocking up on food , and filling your medications .

Food licenses are required for temporary food service operations , mobile retail food vendors and seasonal retail food establishments . Anyone purchasing food items from a vendor is encouraged to ask to see their food license .
Campground Safety
Permits are required for anyone setting up a temporary campground for the eclipse . Temporary campground operators must apply for a license at least 15 days prior to the day of the event .
Travel Safety
An influx of visitors is expected to cause extra traffic on the day of the eclipse . AAA is recommending staying off the roads , but anyone who needs to travel is encouraged to be safe . Headlights should be kept on , and visors should be kept down to block the sun . Eclipse glasses should not be worn while driving , and no photographs or videos of the eclipse should be taken while traveling .
