A
cannabis ballot measure
sponsored by Paul Austin and Joseph Erich Pearson has qualified for the Sausalito ballot in the General Election scheduled for November 8 , 2022 .
The Marin County Registrar of Voters
notified
the City of Sausalito on May 19 that the Citizen Sponsored Initiative Measure to Authorize Storefront and Non - Storefront Commercial Cannabis Business in Sausalito had gathered 582 valid signatures of registered voters in Sausalito , 12 more than the 570 required .
The Austin/Pearson measure will be one of two cannabis measures on the Sausalito ballot in November . A cannabis measure sponsored by Karen Cleary qualified for the ballot in July 2021 .

Under the California Elections Code , if two or more measures on the same ballot are approved by a majority of voters , the measure with the most votes takes precedence .
The City ' s municipal code
currently prohibits
all medical , recreational , commercial , and delivery marijuana businesses from operating from locations inside Sausalito . Existing regulations allow for adults to receive delivery of marijuana from businesses located outside of the city .
