Several important updates are happening with the City of Loveland - run Loveland Resource Center ( LRC ) at 137 . N . Lincoln Ave .
The City of Loveland has operated the LRC since July of 2022 . This facility serves as Loveland’s main day center for people experiencing homelessness and those in need . At night , the LRC serves as an overflow shelter to the South Railroad Facility and as an overnight shelter for guests with mobility issues .
Emergency repairs begin Monday , Jan . 22
Last weekend , a sewage line collapse disrupted operations of the LRC , leaving the center without a working bathroom , running water and laundry facilities . Emergency repair work will begin on Monday , Jan . 22 , estimated to last for 4 - 6 weeks . Work is scheduled for 7 a . m . – 5 p . m . Monday through Friday , weather dependent . There may be increased noise during this time , but no other community impacts are anticipated .
Impact to LRC operations
The City’s goal is to minimize disruption to LRC guests and the community as we work through this process . As a result , the following temporary changes will be made to the operations of the LRC .
The LRC will continue to be open during the day as a warming center and select support services , mail and lockers will remain open .
Daily breakfast provided by the Community Kitchen to the LRC will continue to be served at the LRC .
Bathroom access
Portable regular and handicap - accessible toilets and self - contained hand washing stations are available at the LRC .
Additional portable toilets are available at the Railroad Ave . and W . 4th Street Parking Lot through the winter season .
The South Railroad Facility bathrooms are open to guests from 7 p . m . to 7 a . m .
If needed , the LRC will open for overflow , overnight shelter . Guests with mobility issues will temporarily move to motels with support from community partners Guiding Connections , Homeward Alliance’s Mobile Laundry for laundry service and the Community Kitchen and Salvation Army for food .
City purchases property
On Tuesday , Jan . 16 , Loveland City Council authorized the City’s purchase of the LRC building . To provide you with a quick overview , the current owner notified the City of their intent to sell the building , and there was not an option to extend the City ' s lease . Due to time constraints , the best option was to work with City Council to purchase the property . The City of Loveland remains committed to working with the Homelessness Task Force to explore future solutions .
Shelter and homelessness conversations continue
The City and the Homelessness Task Force continue to collaborate to address homelessness in the Loveland community and both parties remain dedicated to the pursuit of a combined service facility , with all interested partners , located outside of the downtown area for the next phase of our efforts .
