On December 29 , 2023 , The Loveland Emergency Communication Center received a 911 call at 2:12 pm reporting a traffic collision occurred at the intersection of Larimer County Road 30 and Southwest frontage road . Members of the Loveland Police technical accident investigation team along with Thomson Valley EMS , Poudre Valley Fire Authority , Loveland Rescue Fire Authority , and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to the scene .
Officers were able to determine a red 1998 Subaru Outback , driven by a 65 - year - old Loveland woman was heading north on the frontage road and was attempting to make a left hand turn onto County Road 30 . Two motorcyclists were traveling southbound on the frontage road approaching the intersection . The Subaru turned in front of the motorcyclists , causing one operator to maneuver around the Subaru , the other operator collided with the front portion of the Subaru . The impact resulted in the operator , a 22 - year - old Fort Collins man , to be thrown off his motorcycle landing in a field southwest of the intersection . Bystanders on scene prior to the arrival of first responders attempted lifesaving efforts . The male was transported to a local hospital where he sadly was pronounced deceased . The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet . Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor; however , speed may be . The investigation is continuing and will be presented to the Larimer County District Attorney’s Office upon completion . The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased and the official cause of death at a later date .
