Free income tax assistance is offered at the Lewisville Public Library beginning late January 2024 .  
   Volunteer Income Tax Assistance ( VITA )
   January 25 - April 13
   Thursdays , 4 - 6:30 p . m .
   Saturdays , 9:30 a . m . - 1 p . m .
   Location: Computer Lab
   Trained volunteers with United Way of Denton County ' s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance ( VITA ) program provide free federal tax preparation assistance for anyone with an income up to ( not over ) $60 , 000 per year . This year , VITA will be offered at the Library two days a week . No appointment is required . Assistance is provided on a first - come , first - serve basis .  
   AARP Tax - Aide
   February 5 - April 15
   Mondays , 10 a . m . - 3 p . m .
   BY APPOINTMENT ONLY | 
   Sign - up opens January 16 
   Location: Crawford Meeting Room
   AARP Tax - Aide volunteers provide free tax preparation assistance for basic federal income tax returns . They are unable to assist with returns containing rental properties , or farming or business expenses . They are unable to assist with state income tax returns .  Other restrictions may apply . Tax - Aide is available by appointment only . A limited number of appointments are available .  
   Appointment sign - up opens Tuesday , January 16 .
   Appointments can be made by visiting or calling the Library at 972 . 219 . 3779 .   
   Couples filing jointly only need one appointment .
   Individuals in families filing separately will need separate appointments .  
   After making an appointment , patrons should pick up a packet of paperwork to be completed prior to their appointment . Packets will be available for pickup at the Library ' s drive - up window and inside at the Information Desk .  If unable to pick up a packet before their appointment , Tax - Aide volunteers will have the paperwork for the patron at their appointment .
   Patrons should call or visit the Library to cancel or reschedule an appointment . Individuals may reschedule a Tax - Aide appointment if there is an appointment spot still open .
    
   Both VITA and Tax - Aide have different restrictions and requirements . Visit
