The City is partnering with its waste hauler , Republic Services , to host four free compost giveaway events for 2024 . Compost will be available on a first come , first serve basis between the hours of 9 AM - 4 PM on the following dates:
   Wednesday , February 7 through Thursday , February 8 , 2024
   Wednesday , March 27 through Thursday , March 28 , 2024
   Wednesday , October 3 through Thursday , October 4 , 2024
   Wednesday , November 20 through Thursday , November 21 , 2024
   Each event will be held at the Department of Water & WastewaterResources located at 153 Lake Merced Blvd . , Daly City , 94015 .
   To participate in the compost giveaway , please bring a sturdy container , shovels , and gloves for this self - serve event . Residents must show proof of residency and are limited to five ( 5 ) 5 - gallon buckets of compost per household .  
   Events are weather permitting and will be canceled due to rain .
