Hey guys , heads up! Scammers have been using online dating sites to target people and trick them into giving away their money and personal information . These romance scams start off as a whirlwind online relationship , but end up with the victim losing a lot of cash . The scammers usually target those looking for love or companionship and use social media and emails to gain their trust quickly . If you ever feel like something ' s off in an online relationship , trust your gut and cut off contact . And remember , never give out personal info or money to someone you ' ve only talked to online . Stay safe out there! If you think you ' ve been scammed or know someone who has , report it to the FBI San Diego Field Office or visit ic3 . gov .
