Holiday Light Recycling Program
Residents can drop off holiday lights and extension cords now through April 30 , 2024 at the Community Development Department front counter at Village Hall . The Village cannot accept garland , live greens , wreaths , or other non - recyclable materials . Call 847 - 357 - 4220 for more information .
Clearmont Pedestrian Bridge Closed Until Late Spring
The Clearmont Pedestrian Bridge is now closed until the completion of the new bridge in May or June . The new bridge will be 400 feet long , twice as long as the old bridge , which will remove the structure from the floodplain , reducing flooding , and eliminating closures of the bridge .

Village Board Approves Updated Zoning Code
For the last several years , the Village has worked to modernize and enhance the existing Zoning Ordinance for the Village . A new Zoning Ordinance was passed at the December 12 , 2023 Village Board Meeting and replaced the former Zoning Ordinance in its entirety on January 1 , 2024 .

Executive Order Passed to Prevent Unscheduled Bus Arrivals
On Tuesday , January 9 , Mayor Johnson signed an Executive Order to create new regulations for the Village that will serve to discourage unscheduled bus arrivals . Owners , operators , or drivers of any bus that is not providing regularly scheduled service that would like to make a stop or drop off passengers in Elk Grove Village now must file an application with the Director of Police at least five calendar days prior to the proposed drop - off date . Any person violating the provisions within the Executive Order are subject to arrest and shall be fined upon conviction . Additionally , the bus shall be immediately seized and impounded .
