General Description
: In accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, the employee performs code enforcement and environmental health duties to protect and maintain compliance with various standards. The employee also supports the Development Services Director in coordinating compliance scheduling and processing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
:

Assists with complaint investigations and performs various technical inspections to ensure compliance with land use, wastewater, environmental health, and public health regulations and building codes. Determines whether hazardous or noncompliant conditions exist.
Collects data regarding ongoing cases to assist with determining whether correction notices and “stop work” notices are warranted. Assists with preparing court testimony regarding violations.
Document site observations and related communications.
Perform a variety of on-site technical inspections to ensure compliance with environmental health regulations. Assist with the individual sewage disposal system program, including plan reviews and site inspections. Perform other inspections as assigned. Review driveway applications, conduct inspections, and issue permits.
Participate in planning and implementing water quality projects; conduct studies and investigations. If voluntary compliance is not achieved, collect historical documentation regarding public and environmental health issues for prosecuting agencies.
Request further information for review on sites that do not meet the regulator profile.
Assist in research and studies for code enforcement and environmental health projects.
Attend conferences and training as directed. Assist with the preparation of new and updated standards, regulations, codes, and policies.
Prepare and maintain a variety of records pertaining to public and environmental health.
Provide information to the public, business owners and operators, governmental agencies, and citizen groups.
Perform field work and office duties in coordination with the department's total effort. Assist with and participate in emergency response as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.

None.
Work Schedule:
40 hours per week from Monday to Thursday. Occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.
Nature of Contact with others required for successful job performance:
Ability to effectively communicate, in a tactful manner, information to the general public, who, at times, may be upset. Must work with other staff members to form an effective team serving the citizens of Park County.
Responsibility for Resources:
This position requires the operation of assigned vehicles and office equipment.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment: The majority of the time is spent in the field doing inspections and traveling improved and unimproved roads.
This position may require the individual to occasionally change a flat tire, tree a vehicle from mud or snow, walk into a job site, and at the job site be able to climb stairs, crawl under floors, walk on a roof, and use ladders. Office work is done in a noisy, busy environment with a great deal of
time spent on the telephone. This position requires frequent exposure to cold, heights, noise, driving, standing, sitting, walking, bending, working with others, and repetitive movements.
The job location is based in Fairplay, Colorado although travel throughout the county is required for inspections.
