PHOENIX , AZ ( August 22 , 2012 ) – Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery will kick off the second annual “Friday Night Football Patrol” at Desert Ridge High School in Mesa on August 24 , 2012 to encourage teens to stay off drugs and alcohol and steer clear of prescription medication abuse . Montgomery and volunteers from the County Attorney’s Office will visit ten area high schools during the current football season and offer students a chance to sign a drug - free pledge .
Teens who “take the pledge” will be entered to win a free car stereo system , courtesy of Rockford Fosgate , which will be handed out at halftime at each game . Local radio station 104 . 7 KISS FM will promote the program with an on - site Deejay , music and live call - ins at each game . Information on helping kids avoid substance abuse will also be available for parents attending the games .
“Our Friday Night Football Patrol reached thousands of students and parents last year and we expect to reach even more this season , ” remarked Montgomery . “With the support of our partners Rockford Fosgate and 104 . 7 KISS FM , this proactive effort will help teens avoid the types of destructive decisions that all too often wind up in my office in the form of criminal cases . Our message to kids is simple: you use , you lose , ” he added .
The first Friday night game will pit the Gilbert Tigers against the Desert Ridge Jaguars . Teens can sign the drug free pledge , receive free giveaways and enter to win the Rockford Fosgate stereo system prior to the 7:00pm kickoff .
