Friday Night Football Patrol Tells Teens: You Use , You Lose
PHOENIX , AZ ( August 22 , 2011 ) – Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery will encourage teenagers to sign a pledge to stay drug - free as part of an extensive public awareness campaign known as the Friday Night Football Patrol . For ten weeks beginning Friday , August 26 , Montgomery and volunteers from the County Attorney’s Office will attend a different high school football game each week to talk to teens about substance abuse and invite them to sign the drug - free pledge . Parents attending the games will be offered free copies of a drug prevention guide that includes information on effective substance abuse prevention strategies .
Local radio station KISS - FM ( 104 . 7 ) is partnering with the County Attorney’s Office on the Friday Night Football Patrol and will promote the program on - air as well as provide a live Deejay and music at each venue prior to the game . Students who sign the drug - free pledge will also be eligible to enter a drawing at each game for a free Apple iPad donated by Southwest Gas .
“We expect to reach thousands of teens and their parents with our Friday Night Football Patrol and provide them with actionable information and strategies to prevent drug and alcohol abuse , ” remarked Montgomery . “Together with our partners at KISS - FM and Southwest Gas , we believe this proactive effort will help reduce the incidence of teen substance abuse and the number of cases involving this problem that come through my office . Our message is simple: you use , you lose , ” he added .
The Friday Night Football Patrol begins on August 26

Teens can sign the drug free pledge , receive free giveaways and enter to win the free Apple iPad prior to the 7:00 p . m . kickoff .
