Responsibilities:
Conduct inspections on commercial and residential construction projects, existing structures and other work requiring approvals and permits to verify code requirements with Ohio building codes and their referenced standards; to include, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire, and accessibility. Inspections of building construction, alteration or repair that may include, but is not limited to; work without approvals and permit, site grading, footing, foundation, structural, energy, HVAC, accessibility, and fire protection systems. Assist property owners, contractors, architects, engineers and government departments on matters relevant to the applicability of codes or standards; coordinate and assist office staff and Fields Inspectors. Timely processing of written and electronic documentation; post stop work orders for construction without permits; issue field notices on non-compliance matters including occupancy, inspections or expired permits.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or G.E.D.; State of Ohio Commercial Building Inspector Certification, full certification preferable, interim certification acceptable; State of Ohio Residential Inspector Certification, full certification preferable, interim certification acceptable; and four (4) years of related trade or technical experience. Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record. Interim qualified individuals must obtain full certification as a State of Ohio Commercial Building Inspector and a State of Ohio Residential Inspector within two (2) years of employment.
