Arrest Update:
   On February 24th , 2024 , investigators with the Atlanta Police Department’s Homicide Unit placed 27 - year - old Jacquez Whitfield into custody for his involvement in a homicide that occurred at 630 Travis Street NW on 02/23/24 . Mr . Whitfield is being charged with Murder , Aggravated Assault , and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony . Mr . Whitfield was transported to the Fulton County Jail for processing .
   Previously Released:
   Preliminary information: On February 23 , 2024 , at approximately 8:09 p . m . , Atlanta Police Zone 5 officers responded to a report of a person shot at 630 Travis St . NW . Upon arriving on the scene , officers located an adult male who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds . Responding medical personnel pronounced the victim deceased on the scene . A possible involved party was detained near the scene . Investigators with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident . The investigation continues .
