Albany County is helping to raise awareness about heart health in honor of American Heart Month . Today , Deputy County Executive Michael McLaughlin , Jr . unveiled a new reusable bag featuring a design created by 12 - year - old Aedan Conway from Delmar . He has linked heart health to a healthy environment .
   Aedan was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome , which means that half his heart didn’t develop . He lives with three chambers of a heart , rather than the usual four .   He has had three open - heart surgeries , the first when he was just a few days old . Now in 6th grade , Aedan skis , plays baseball , and is part of the Empire State Youth Orchestra Chamber Percussion Ensemble . He is a member of the Cardiac Kids 518 group .
