The deadline for Albany County ' s American Rescue Plan Act ( ARPA ) Community Development Grant Program applications , which were due by close of business Friday , January 5

   has been extended to Friday , January 19
    .
   The Albany County Community Development Grant Program provides American Rescue Plan Act ( ARPA ) local relief funds to nonprofit organizations providing key services to County residents and stakeholders whose financial well - being after the COVID - 19 pandemic has left them vulnerable and in need of support .
   The $8 . 3 million grant application program is focused on community development and non - profit support . It includes $1 . 5 million in funding for the financial recovery of non - profits that were negatively impacted by the pandemic , as well as $6 . 8 million for new community development initiatives .  
   Members of the Legislature and the County Executive’s office are heavily invested in providing opportunities to support our community forerunners . They see the weight that small businesses and key organizations carry as they continue to recover from financial hardship . Concern and care for their communities influenced members of the body to opt for an immediate deadline extension for grant applications . In collaboration with the County Executive’s office and partners , the Albany County Legislature is committed to ensuring that all local community groups and businesses who meet the criteria are aware of this new deadline .  
   The County Legislature and the County Executive will also be expanding outreach to the community by continuing to field technical questions for those looking for assistance and sharing information on social media pages and the website . Legislators stand ready to assist organizations in their own communities who need help with their applications .
