   County of Wetaskiwin
   The County of Wetaskiwin, located in central Alberta on the Highway 2 corridor, offers a casual country setting with a diverse farming community. The County stretches from Bittern Lake on the east boundary to the Alder Flats area in the west.    Position Summary
   The County is seeking a permanent full time
   Utilities Operator
   . Reporting to the Utilities Foreman, the successful candidate will assist with the daily operation and maintenance of the County of Wetaskiwin’s water/wastewater systems. Regular hours of work are eight (8) hours per day Monday to Friday commencing at 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the requirement to be on a rotational on-call schedule as required. 
   Requirements
   Achieved Provincial Certification Level 1 or greater in Water Treatment, Water Distribution, Wastewater Treatment, Wastewater collection; or
   Achieved a Journeyman Certification as a Plumber, Electrician, or Instrumentation and Control Technician; or
   Achieved a Certificate as a Water and Wastewater Technician through a qualified technical institution.
   High School Diploma or Equivalency.
   Hold a Class 5 Driver’s License.
   Demonstrated an ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
   Have a demonstrated ability for being self motivated, organized, safety conscious, mechanical aptitude and good analytical and problem solving skills.
   Be physically fit; able to lift up to 50 lbs and able to work in an outside environment.
   Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills, with the ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions orally and in writing are essential.
   The successful candidate will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Driver’s Abstract.
   Experience in GIS operations and Asset ID software is an asset.
   Responsibilities
   Maintain water, sewer and storm facilities, pumps, valves, and back-up engines.
   Follow “Alberta Environment Code of Practice” to provide safe and potable drinking.
   Conduct pre/post trip vehicle inspections and report issues as required.
   Perform sanitary and storm repairs.
   Apply equipment specific operation skills, techniques and procedures while operating municipal equipment and hand tools in a safe and responsible manner.
   Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms and extraordinary situations that may occur such as low/high pressure alarms, high flow alarms, reservoir level alarms, power failures, etc.
   Analyze and interpret graphs and data from the SCADA (System control and data acquisition) system.
   Complete tasks assigned daily on work orders generated by the administration/utility billing department.
   Scheduled water meter reads.
   Perform seasonal maintenance (i.e., hydrant flushing, winterization, line flushing, sewer flushing, valve exercising).
   Perform daily random water sampling (grab) and recording of chlorine residual.
   Participate in a rotating schedule for 24 hour emergency On-Call response.
