Traffic Improvements on Frogtown Connector; National County Government Month: What ' s Happening In Your Boone County

Improving Traffic Flow at Richwood Road and Frogtown Connector
Work has begun to address traffic issues at the Pilot Fueling Center along Richwood Road ( KY 338 ) . Tractor trailers entering the Pilot Travel Center from Frogtown Connector Road have caused traffic backups along Frogtown Connector , Richwood Road and the I - 75 south exit ramp .
County officials have spoken with residents and officials from Pilot Fueling Center to develop effective solutions to ease traffic congestion . One solution is widening and resurfacing Frontage Road – work that is currently underway . Widening Frontage will create a three - lane section to safely accommodate two - way traffic and a truck queuing lane .
Once work is complete , trucks will be directed past the current entrance on Frogtown Connector Road and to make a right turn onto Frontage Road . Tractor trailers can then access fueling stations from Frontage Road .
Water Coming to Woolper , Snyder and Second Streets
The County is pleased to report that the contractor is nearing completion of the waterline projects on Woolper Rd , Snyder Ln and Second Street in Petersburg . The water district is ready to work with residents to arrange the tap - in and connection of service to individual homes .
Each resident will be responsible for any cost associated with providing the required plumbing connections from the water meter to the structure and the one - time tap - in fee that is required of every person or entity that taps into a water main .
Next Steps -
Contact Boone County Water District to complete a new customer application . Remit the $75 deposit and pay the tap - in fee/deposit . Plan 4 - 6 weeks for meter installation .
Obtain a state plumbing permit .
Construct connection from structure to meter .
Complete plumbing inspection .
Enjoy the water!
Even if you don’t elect to tap into these new water lines , the County encourages you to contact your insurance provider , as the installation of the hydrants may help reduce your homeowner ' s insurance rate .
Child Abuse Prevention Month Recognized During 20
th
Annual Blue Ribbon Ceremony
Tom Gill Chevrolet in Florence once again hosted the Family Nurturing Center’s Blue Ribbon Ceremony to raise awareness of child abuse prevention efforts happening in the area , and across the nation . The event , held for the past 20 years during Child Abuse Prevention Month , honors children affected by abuse and neglect and educates the community on how they can support local child abuse prevention efforts . Matthew Webster , County Administrator , was on hand to share a proclamation from Judge/Executive Gary W . Moore , dedicating April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Boone County .

Public Hearing Scheduled for Comprehensive Plan Goals & Objectives
On Wednesday , April 17 at 7 p . m . , the Boone County Planning Commission is holding a public hearing to present the draft Goals and Objectives for the Boone County Comprehensive Plan , Our Boone County – Plan 2045 . The public is encouraged to attend to learn more about the suggested goals and objectives and provide comments and input .
The meeting will be held in the Boone County Fiscal Courtroom , Boone County Administration Building ( 2950 Washington Street , Burlington ) .
