Salary Range:
$25.00 - $30.00
Higher starting wage available to Applicants that have completed all courses for Appraisal Supervisor in State of Ohio
Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the County Auditor, the Appraiser is a self-motivated individual with a unique combination of analytical and communication skills, along with a solid work ethic and the ability to work with established team members.
Essential Knowledge, Abilities and Skills, Education
Must have the ability to work independently and collaborate with team members.
High School graduate or equivalent, some college is helpful but not required.
Successful, varied experience in one or more of the following is desired; construction, real estate, mass appraisal, or as a residential appraiser.
One-year residential data collection and property measurement experience preferred, but not required.
Must have the capability to learn what it takes to generate, array, and interpret appraisal/sales reports.
Must have valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Good written and oral communications skills.
Must be detail-oriented and possess excellent organizational skills.
Must have spatial abilities necessary to read maps.
The ability to envision, interpret and create floor plan footprints based on three-dimensional buildings and be able to correctly label each section.
Strong math and analytical skills to calculate square footage, and similar functions.
PC skills are necessary; including but not limited to; working knowledge of MS-Word and Excel, or their equivalents, data entry programs and must have a good basic understanding of computer operation.
Must have solid problem-solving skill
Essential Functions
Professionally represent the Ottawa County Auditor to property owners and other members of the public.
Measure and inspect residential, agricultural, commercial and industrial buildings, in person and/or from aerial imaging program.
Analyze and verify images and data of residential, agricultural, commercial and industrial properties to ensure that property records reflect current and accurate property characteristics
Accurately record property characteristics, square footage, angles, sketches, and dimensions on appropriate field documents and/or electronically to ensure that property records reflect current and accurate property characteristics in the CAMA system.
Have a basic understanding of how to gather cost and sales information, and assist in the sales verification process as needed
Communicate effectively with the public and follow up on any property owner issues.
Assist with the Board of Revision Process as needed
Help with annual new construction, measure/list and general processing
Perform other duties as assigned

Ottawa County Courthouse, Auditor’s Office, 2
nd
Floor; 7:30AM – 4:00PM (30 minute unpaid lunch) Monday through Friday, Full-Time, In Person, Flexible hours possible after training period.
