Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department responded to an occupied structure fire at approximately 9:05 a . m . Engine 4 and Engine 5 arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the rear of the structure . After a quick investigation , it was determined to be a kitchen fire , and both companies pulled an attack line and extinguished the fire . Car 3 took command , Truck 1 and Rescue 2 performed primary and secondary searches , Rescue 6 established a water supply and handled utilities , while E3 set up ventilation and became the Rapid Intervention Crew ( RIC ) . All occupants were evacuated safely and one was treated for smoke inhalation . The Fire Marshal and Fire Inspector were on the scene and the fire is currently under investigation .
