U . S . Army Corps of Engineers ( USACE ) will be hosting a
Public Input Sessionin the
Town Council Chambers
, located on the second floor of Town Hall at 4601 E Oak Island Drive .
The purpose of this meeting is to receive public input regarding the proposed
Coastal Storm Risk Management 50 - Year Study
.
This meeting is not coordinated or conducted by the Town of Oak Island butis open to the public , to participate in person or virtually online at:

USACE , Wilmington District , is initiating the National Environmental Policy Act ( NEPA ) process to evaluate the feasibility of a 50 - year Coastal Storm Risk Management ( CSRM ) plan for the Town of Oak Island . The USACE has scheduled a scoping meeting at the Town Hall , to provide a brief overview of the study and offer a platform for questions and open discussion .
Various risk management alternatives will be examined , including no action , non - structural measures ( relocation ) , and structural measures , such as beach nourishment . Input provided may result in coordination with individuals or agencies on an as - needed basis .
