    , the Coastal Race Productions
   Run Oak Island 2024marathon will take place .
   From 5:30 AM to 1:00 PM drivers should expect heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic , which may cause delays on and off the Island .
   There will be
   no permanent street closures
    , however the main crossings with heaviest traffic will be:
   49th Street - & - E Oak Island Drive
   Country Club Drive - & - Yaupon Way
   S Middleton Ave . - & - Oak Island Drive intersection
   This is a private event which is not sponsored or coordinated by the Town of Oak Island . The Police Department will be assisting with traffic management , as there is multiple courses for this race , which will run the full span of the Island . Detailed maps of each race are provided below , and available online at:

   The Department will have several officers assigned to intersections , which will change throughout the day; so 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒏𝒐 "𝒃𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒆" to take during the event .
   THE BEST PLAN is to simply allow a little more time when traveling to - through - and off the Island , and be patient as runners enjoy this activity which only comes around once - per - year .
