The City of Mount Airy is accepting applications for a MSW II in the Grounds Maintenance Division of Parks and Recreation
.
An employee in this class performs daily maintenance of City owned properties. Work involves the use of a variety of tools and light equipment. Work duties will include, but are not limited to, park maintenance (including mowing, trimming, edging the City owned park sites), cleaning shelters, bathrooms, playground equipment and grounds, maintaining ball fields, walking trails, and all other park facilities. Employee is subject to both indoor and outdoor work environments and has exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, vibrations, moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, and chemicals. Work is supervised under the direction of the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor and is evaluated through observations and inspection to determine the thoroughness in carrying out assigned duties. The salary for this position starts at $15.00/hour.
Approximate work hours will be Monday through Friday 9am-5pm with some weekend work required. Hours could vary depending on the needs of the department.
Person must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting and performing repetitive motions. Must possess the visual acuity to operate trucks and other mechanical equipment. Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver’s License is required.
Possession of a Public Operators Turf and Ornamental Pesticide License (preferred).
CDL license preferred.
Prior experience in maintenance and safety training is desired.
