   Professional lineworkers from more than 10 public power utilities across Oklahoma and Arkansas will be displaying their skills and training Sept . 21 - 22 when the Municipal Electric Systems of Oklahoma ( MESO ) Lineworkers Rodeo returns to Arcadia Lake in Edmond .
   A friendly competition and safety training , the rodeo is a tradition from electric utilities across the country and allows professionals to demonstrate skills and knowledge . Both journeymen and apprentice lineworkers gather to put their talents on...... display in a safe environment and gain valuable experience .
   Sixty - four poles were set at Lake Arcadia in two days by crews and a record number of 60 competitors are expected to be at the rodeo .
   Training sessions are Sept 21 . The 2022 MESO rodeo competition events begin Sept . 22 and include:
   Obstacle Course 
   Hurtman Rescue
   Speed Climb
   Team Event #1 – Mystery
   Team Event #2 – 12kV Insulator Change A/C
   Mutual Aid Event – 4kV Cross Arm Change Out
   Veteran Event – Equipment Change
   The competitors include entrants from Edmond Electric , Bentonville , Ark . , Collinsville , Duncan , Kingfisher , Skiatook , Stillwater , the Grand River Dam Authority , the Municipal Utility Board of Pryor , Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority , and Ponca City Energy .
   An opening ceremony is set for 8 a . m . on Sept . 22 , with City of Edmond Mayor Darrell Davis and council members invited to recognize the public power professionals in our region . Ceremonial activities include the color guard from the Edmond Police Department , a national anthem performance , and recognition of fallen lineworkers .
   Public power includes electric utilities that are locally owned and operated . There are more than 60 municipal electric utilities in Oklahoma and Edmond is the largest .
   Sept . 22 event details
   Location – Spring Creek Park , Lake Arcadia
   8 a . m . – Opening Ceremonies
   8:30 a . m . – Competition begins
   2 p . m . – Rodeo Awards Banquet
