   In recognition of World Hunger Day , Durham residents are invited to celebrate this important day with a large outdoor event on Saturday , June 4 , 2022 , from 3 p . m . to 6 p . m . The event will be held at Durham Central Park , 501 Foster Street .
    
   World Hunger Day Durham , NC , aims to raise awareness of food insecurity experienced in the community , as well as to highlight the amazing work being done to support our residents and create a more fair and equitable food system . Attendees will celebrate all that food means with friendship , music , arts , and entertainment for the entire family , including food trucks , giveaways , free snacks , bounce house and more .
    
   “We intend to create a joyful and welcoming atmosphere where families and individuals can experience new foods , learn about healthy eating that incorporates culture and is budget friendly , find out about helpful resources , and just relax and enjoy the day , ” said Durham County Food Security Coordinator Mary Oxendine
