   The latest edition of the “In Touch with Durham County” show from the Durham County Public Information Office continues to bring residents of our community important information on our programs and services with the March 2024 show . Our goal is to have great conversations with our Durham County department heads , our staff , and community partners so that we can share valuable information about our programs and services with you! 
   This month’s episode features Durham Sports Commission ' s Executive Director Marcus Manning and Durham County Cooperative Extension Director Donna Rewalt to our TV studio .  
   In segment one , our host Durham County Chief Communications Officer Deborah Craig - Ray welcomes Manning to discuss the economic and social impact being made by the Durham Sports Commission . He shares why 2023 was a big year for the Commission and sports in Durham . He also shares event highlights from the year , including the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Football Championship . Before leaving he gives insight into the Commission’s involvement with the bid to bring the 2029 World University Games to the Triangle .  
   In segment two , Craig - Ray continues the conversation with Rewalt , who returns to the show to share how Durham County Cooperative Extension is going beyond its original , traditional areas of focus . Like all 100 counties in North Carolina , Durham Extension has an agriculture agent . What makes our community’s agriculture story different is that it has “an increasing number of growers on a decreasing amount of land which means we have a lot of creativity and a lot of entrepreneurship in the agriculture space in Durham County , ” says Rewalt . “People get very excited about the opportunities . ” She goes on to share how the community can get involved with Durham Extension programs like Welcome Baby , Immigrant and Refugee affairs , youth programming , and much more .
