Severe thunderstorms , flash flooding and gusty winds are forecast for Tuesday afternoon and evening .
   We do not expect large - scale power outages from this storm , but it’s always good to be prepared in case the path changes . If you see downed power lines , do not touch them or allow pets or children near them . Wilson Energy customers can track electric outages from mobile devices through our text alert system . You must sign up for the service to begin receiving notifications . The system is easy to use but you do need your location number , found on your utility bill .

   Our UCC staff will be available before , during and after the storm if you need to speak with someone .   That number is 252 - 399 - 2424 – and please remember if you receive a text message that your power is out or if you see the outage on the map , you do not need to call us . In most cases we know when outages occur and dispatch crews as soon as we safely can . Pro tip: bookmark the outage map on your cell phone so you can check during the storm . Also make sure all phones in your household are fully charged .
