Starting Salary: $37,923.80Annual
Pay Grade Z-154
Non-Exempt / Mandatory Testing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED. Ability to understand and follow oral/written instructions and work well with the public and co-workers. Experience in the safe operation of heavy equipment desired. Must have two (2) years’ experience in the safe operation of heavy equipment, paving, street resurfacing, and grade work. Must possess a Storm Water Level 1 Certification and a Work Zone Safety Certification. Must have or be able to obtain a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement within six (6) months of employment.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
:
Operates heavy equipment and vehicles to construct, maintain, and improve streets and drainage systems. Direct and perform traffic control set up for work sites. Construct and maintain City streets, parking lots, and sidewalks. Perform tree removal, tree trimming, road grading, light carpentry work, preventative maintenance on small engines and hand/power tools. Maintain street signs, storm water pumps, and other drainage facilities. Install street signs, and construct drainage swells and ponds.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
The selected candidate will have a background check completed, undergo drug testing, and complete a physical exam before employment. Tasks completed for this position involve regular and sustained physical exertion. Possession and maintenance of a Florida driver license is also required before employment.
The compensation package will start at the base salary range and may vary based on proven abilities of the individual selected. The City of Zephyrhills has an excellent benefit package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and Florida Retirement System (FRS).
