Starting Salary: $61,733.87 Annual
Pay Grade Z-164
Non-Exempt / Mandatory Testing

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED. Ten (10) years of verifiable experience as a state certified building inspector required. A comparable amount of training and experience in contracting, architecture, engineering, or as a superintendent of building construction may be considered for these qualifications, except for the required certifications. Must have and maintain good interpersonal and communication skills.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
This is part of a succession plan to the Building Official’s position. This position will have oversight and direction of the operations of the department. Will assume leadership of the department in the Building Officials absence. Directly involved in the interpretation and application of the Florida Building Code, building regulations, building fire safety, flood zones, contractor licensing, and communication with the public. Performs construction document review related to building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire prevention, energy, accessibility, mobile homes, building inspections, fire-safety plans, review, inspect, and related work. Assist with preparing annual budget estimates and requests.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
The selected candidate will have a background check completed, undergo drug testing, and complete a physical exam before employment. Possession and maintain a Florida driver license is required before employment.
The compensation package will start at the base salary range and may vary based on proven abilities of the individual selected. The City of Zephyrhills has an excellent benefit package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and Florida Retirement System (FRS).
