Preliminary Statement: On February 19th , 2024 , at approximately 2:17AM , officers responded to 601 Hamilton E . Holmes Drive NW in reference to a fatal auto accident involving a Dodge Avenger and a Subaru Impreza . Upon arrival , officers located the 41 - year - old female driver of the Subaru who was not alert , conscious , or breathing . The female driver was later pronounced deceased on scene . The 26 - year - old male driver of the Dodge remained on scene and was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment . The Accident Investigations Unit was notified and responded to the scene . Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the Dodge Avenger was traveling northbound on Hamilton E . Holmes Drive when he failed to maintain his lane of travel and crossed over the center line of the roadway where he struck the driver of the Subaru Impreza , resulting in a head - on collision . At this time , the investigation continues .
