“Southern Nevada is one of the fastest - warming areas of the country , ” said Chairman Segerblom , whose commission District E includes Caesar Chavez Park . “Planting trees and providing more green space helps offset the urban heat island effect and brings shade , cooling and beauty to our community . We are happy to work with the NFL and other partners to bring this lasting gift to our east Las Vegas community . ”
In addition to NFL Green , other partners include Clark County’s Parks and Recreation and Real Property Management departments , Nevada Plants , the Las Vegas Super Bowl LV III Host Committee , Verizon , San Manuel Band of Mission Indians , the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada ( RTC ) , the Las Vegas Raiders’ Raider Rusher and the Raiderettes .
Heat islands are urbanized areas that experience higher temperatures because buildings , roads and other structures absorb and re - emit the sun’s heat more than natural landscapes . The RTC developed an urban heat map to identify area neighborhoods most in need of trees and the cooling they provide . More information about the project is on the RTC’s website at
