   The City of Cedar Rapids is celebrating its 175th Anniversary!
   While Cedar Rapids ' official date of incorporation is recognized as January 15 , 1849 , we are celebrating all year long with a series of special events — and inviting community organizations to
   join in the fun!
   Our next event is Friday , January 19th at City Hall:Enjoy a guided tour of the historic Council Chamber murals at by the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art Executive Director Sean Ulmer .
   The tour will take place at Noon on Friday , January 19 . Meet at the City Hall main floor lobby and take in the
   Traveling Cedar Rapids History Exhibitwhile gathering .
   Last week , City leaders and residents dedicated a time capsule commemorating our past and present — set to be opened in 2074!
