   The Charles County Department of Recreation , Parks , and Tourism is inviting residents to the ribbon - cutting ceremony for the Calm Cove Sensory Space on March 6 , 2024 , from 5:30 p . m . to 6:30 p . m . at the Elite Gymnastics & Recreation Center located at 2745 Old Washington Road , Waldorf .
   The event will feature a ribbon - cutting ceremony , previews of upcoming therapeutic recreation programs , and access to Calm Cove .
   The Calm Cove Sensory Space provides multi - sensory resources to support sensory needs and captivate participants in fun and engaging activities . The space can be stimulating or calming depending on the user ' s needs .
   The Calm Cove Sensory Space will be open to all ages Monday through Friday from 10 a . m . to noon and from 5 to 7 p . m . , and Saturday from 9 a . m . to noon . The drop - in fee is $5 per person .
