2023 was a record year for the Wilmington Fire Department .
    
   Several things factor into our jump in calls , like an increased number of residents , more cars on the roads , and a final return to normalcy from COVID - 19 .
    
   As an accredited and ISO Class 1 organization , we are committed to continual improvement . That means it’s our job to continue to figure out how to maintain our high level of service , despite an increase in the need for our help .
    
   Some
   of the ways we are addressing that is through the implementation of our squad program , adding a new station in the Riverlights area , and continually assessing our deployment models and response times .
    
   We believe the Wilmington area will only continue to grow , and with that our numbers will continue to increase . But we are committed to delivering the best service possible to our residents .
