Behavioral Health Crisis Calls
' Care Response ' Pilot Program to Transform Behavioral Health Crisis Management
Cuyahoga County , OH – The Alcohol , Drug Addiction & Mental Health Services ( ADAMHS ) Board of Cuyahoga County and the Cleveland Department of Public Health are launching a long - anticipated care response pilot program , an initiative aimed at transforming the city’s response to behavioral health crises .
The program is poised to make a significant impact in areas with a pressing need for innovative crisis intervention solutions . The alternative police response model will deploy teams of unarmed licensed behavioral health professionals and peer support specialists directly into the community in response to behavioral health calls to 911 and 988 .
"We are stepping into a new era of community care , " said Scott Osiecki , Chief Executive Officer of the ADAMHS Board . "This pilot is not just a program , it ' s a promise to our community to expand services that are compassionate , effective and tailored to the unique needs of our residents . "
“We are looking forward to this partnership to transform our approach to mental health crisis care in Cleveland , ” said Dr . David Margolius , Director of the Cleveland Department of Public Health .
The pilot program includes a preparatory phase for community engagement , ensuring that the voices and needs of the community are central to the program ' s design and implementation . The program ' s progress and effectiveness will be rigorously evaluated through a data - driven approach , focusing on significant community impact and feedback .
The foundation for this pilot program has been laid through extensive research and development . Drawing from evidence - based practices and the success of similar initiatives in other communities , the care response program is designed to meet the specific needs of Cleveland residents .
