ACCOUNTS CLERK I
WORKING TITLE:
Accounts Clerk I
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
Two (2) years of Clerical Experience. Must have Computer Experience. Cash handling experience preferred.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS, CERTIFICATES, ETC.
Ability to type forty (40) correct words per minute.
Must be Bondable.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (These examples are only representative work samples for this classification and do not include all duties or special work assignments that may be required of this classification or job.)
Assist customers and other members of the public.
Receive and post utility payments, deposits, and other miscellaneous fees.
Process initial read, final read and other work orders.
Balancing cash drawer daily
Auditing of billing accounts
Filing and Scanning of documents and reports
Print billing reports
Issuance of Business Licenses
Process sewer averages yearly
Perform other such duties as may be assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Considerable knowledge of modern office practices.
Working knowledge of standard bookkeeping and record filing.
Ability to follow department procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Contribute to a positive team environment.
Knowledge to operate standard office equipment including computer, word processor, bill mailing machine, calculator, cash drawer, and copy/fax machine.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and public.
HOURS OF WORK, SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
This is a classified position consisting of forty (40) hours per week.
Normal business hours, Monday through Friday.
Employee reports to the Billing Supervisor and CFO
There is no supervisory responsibility in this position.
JOB SUMMARY:
An employee in this job performs Clerical duties which follow prescribed and well-established procedures. Detail instructions and close supervision are given at the beginning of work and on subsequent new assignments. Work is reviewed regularly for progress or accuracy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee in this position is in constant communication with coworkers and the public. Employee must be able to communicate clearly and effectively and exchange accurate information in person and on the phone. The employee must be able to review documents in paper or electronic form. The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 20 pounds. Must be able to utilize a variety of office equipment and a computer. The employee will rotate position stations within the department several times in a day.
