2024 marks a special year for the city of Goodyear . Goodyear Ballpark is celebrating 15 years of spring training! The ballpark is the spring training home for the Cleveland Guardians and Cincinnati Reds and has welcomed nearly 1 . 8 million fans over the years . The 2024 spring training season is guaranteed to be a memorable one and begins this weekend , Saturday Feb . 24 , when the Guardians take on the Reds for opening day .
"We are back to one of my favorite times of the year , ” said Mayor Joe Pizzillo . “We know the potential is huge for great attendance this spring training season . We have wonderful staff at our ballpark who work tirelessly to ensure the game day experience is top - notch . ”
To mark the 15th anniversary of the ballpark , there will be special commemorative giveaways throughout the season:
• Saturday , Feb . 24 – camouflage hat
• Sunday , March 10 – drawstring bag
• Sunday , March 17 – St . Patrick’s Day pint glass
• Sunday , March 24 – cooling towel
There will also be t - shirt giveaways at every game , kids can run the bases after every Saturday game starting March 2 , seniors are able to stroll the bases postgame Feb . 28 and March 6 and the season will wrap up with Fan Appreciation Day with team memorabilia given away every inning .
The ballpark also hosts a number of regional and national baseball tournaments each year and transforms for all kinds of events including food truck festivals , concerts , movie nights , corporate outings and car shows .
