So there ' s this guy , Michael Parham , who lives in Indianapolis and he ' s been sent to prison for almost four years . He got caught with a gun even though he wasn ' t supposed to have one because of some past trouble he got into . The cops found him passed out in his car with another guy , and when they went to wake him up , they found the gun right there on the floor . It was a special kind of gun that can turn into a machinegun if you add some extra stuff to it , which is super illegal . Now Parham is going back to prison and the people who caught him are really happy about it . The Alcohol , Tobacco , Firearms , and Explosives Bureau and Carmel Police Department looked into the case and U . S . District Court Judge Jane Magnus - Stinson gave the sentence . Parham will be supervised by the U . S . Probation Office for three years after he gets out of prison . U . S . Attorney Myers thanked Assistant United States Attorney Peter A . Blackett for prosecuting this case . This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods ( PSN ) , which is a program that brings together law enforcement and communities to reduce violent crime and gun violence and make neighborhoods safer . On May 26 , 2021 , the Department launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on these core principles: building trust and legitimacy in communities , supporting organizations that prevent violence , setting enforcement priorities , and measuring the results .
