Vinsetta Garage Makes Major Contribution to Berkley Parks & Recreation Inclusive Park Fundraiser

– Berkley Parks & Recreation is pleased to share and recognize the charitable contribution in the amount of $10 , 000 from a local Berkley business ,
Vinsetta Garage
, for the Jaycee Park Development: If We Build It , They Will PLAY! Fundraiser .
Jaycee Park , a 2 . 7 - acre park located between Bacon and Phillips , is slated to become an all - inclusive playground at one of the City ' s premier recreation spots . This initiative for the park is to develop a multi - generational gathering space that goes above the required ADA accessibility requirements enabling play experiences that meet a variety of needs and interests . The project includes updates to pathways , increased inclusiveness , and a state - of - the - art , universally accessible playscape .
After learning about the fundraising efforts , Vinsetta Garage owners , Curt Catallo , KC Crain , and Ann Stevenson , eagerly contacted the Parks & Recreation Department expressing interest and admiration for this project , understanding the importance and value this would bring to the community .
“We loved that the City was doing this , ” said Curt Catallo . “Inclusivity is so important and we truly believe in what Berkley is doing and are appreciative to be able to play a small part in it . ”
“I am so grateful for the partnership and enthusiasm of Vinsetta Garage to help support our efforts . Their very generous donation secured our ability to go above and beyond our original plans for the inclusive park , ” said Theresa McArleton , Parks & Recreation Director . “Additionally , we were also able to exceed our fundraising goal and have raised $60 , 980!”
In addition to the resident and community donations , the City partnered with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s ( MEDC )
Public Spaces Community Places program
where the department will now receive a matching grant of $50 , 000 , essentially doubling the donations .
