Voice of America journalists snagged five Chesapeake AP Awards across various categories at this year ' s CAPBA ceremony . The awards were announced at a ceremony in Ocean City , MD on June 3rd . Among the winners were Carla Babb and Mike Burke , who took home first place in the Outstanding News Series category for their coverage on Alaska ' s Full 180 in the Arctic . Babb also secured first place in the Best Producer category for her episode on Alaska ' s strategic frontier . Kane Farabaugh also scored first place for his report on a U . S . Army officer reuniting with his Afghan interpreter . VOA ' s Carolyn Presutti , Steve Miller , and Adam Greenbaum were recognized for their enterprise reporting on "NYC Jammin ' . " The CAPBA contest is open to journalists in Washington D . C . , Maryland , and Delaware who work for AP members . Voice of America reaches a global audience of over 326 million people in 48 languages and is funded by the U . S . Congress through USAGM .
