UPDATE
: Clarksville Gas & Water has closed all lanes in both directions on University Avenue between Commerce Street and Franklin Street for the water main leak repair work underway at the intersection of Franklin Street . Southbound traffic on University Avenue is being detoured to Main Street and S . 7th Street and northbound traffic is being detoured to Commerce Street and S . 7th Street . The repair work timeline is also extended and is expected to be finished by approximately 12 a . m . on Monday , Jan . 1 .

CLARKSVILLE , Tenn . – Clarksville Gas & Water has closed a section of University Avenue between Commerce Street and Franklin Street and Franklin Street is also closed from University Avenue to S . 7th Street for water main leak repair work .
Traffic will be detoured to Commerce Street and S . 7th Street during the work and motorists are advised to choose an alternate travel route when possible to avoid traffic congestion near the worksite .
Low water pressure is affecting the vicinity and a water outage may also be possible while repairs are underway .
The water main leak repair is anticipated to be finished , the road reopened and water service fully restored by approximately 9 p . m .
