The first of many new speed signs was installed on Whitewood Road , near Washington School to remind motorists to slow down . The speed signs are part of Mayor Manuel Figueiredo ' s aggressive public safety road initiative called S . P . E . E . D . 2022 . The speed signs , in addition to new pedestrian signage , and crosswalk lines throughout town , are directed toward increasing pedestrian safety and reducing motor vehicle speeding .  
    "Our Administration , along with Union Police , are doing everything to slow down reckless drivers – through enforcement , education , and engineering – to create safer streets , " said Mayor Figueiredo . "If you are speeding , driving aggressively , and putting people ' s lives in danger , you will be pulled over and get a ticket . "
    In the upcoming week , a total of 14 new speed signs will be installed in the locations below .
