S . and Australian Army research and development organizations are expanding upon their partnerships to improve modernization and coalition interoperability . U . S . Army Command , Control , Communications , Computers , Cyber , Intelligence , Surveillance and Reconnaissance ( C5ISR ) Center leaders and their Australian counterparts met on Feb . 14 to strengthen long - standing cooperative relationships in science and technology . C5ISR Center Director Joseph Welch hosted the first virtual U . S . - Australian C5ISR meeting with his counterpart , Dr . Peter Shoubridge , Chief of the Land Division of Australian Defense Science and Technology Group ( DTSG ) . “These meetings are one way C5ISR Center senior leaders integrate with allied partners to create a world - class team , ” Welch said . The result was a series of meetings in the areas of long range precision fires; electronic warfare; free space optical communications; network situational awareness visualization; countermeasure validation and cyber . “International research cooperation supports the Center’s priority to recruit , develop and retain a world - class workforce , ” Welch said . “These relationships help to ensure our advancements deliver cutting - edge capabilities to our Soldiers . ” On Sept . 20 , 2021 , C5ISR Center and Australian DSTG established a formal relationship between the science and technology organizations . The TOR directs the establishment of a C5ISR Center Working Group , co - led by DEVCOM C5ISR Center Director and the Australian DSTG Land Division Director . This bi - lateral fora is designed for the C5ISR leaders of both countries to set the priorities for the exchange of information regarding research between the two countries , as well as a way to establish dialogue for potential collaborative projects and activities . The agreements will assist the two countries in developing interoperability into technology solutions from the onset , according to Chuck Hoppe , C5ISR Center’s Associate Director for Science , Technology and Engineering . ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ The C5ISR Center is the Army’s applied research and advanced technology development center for C5ISR capabilities . As the Army’s primary integrator of C5ISR technologies and systems , the center develops and matures capabilities that support all six Army modernization priorities , enabling information dominance and tactical overmatch for the joint warfighter . The C5ISR Center is an element of the U . S . Army Combat Capabilities Development Command ( DEVCOM ) . Through collaboration across the command’s core technical competencies , DEVCOM leads in the discovery , development and delivery of the technology - based capabilities required to make Soldiers more lethal to win our nation’s wars and come home safely . DEVCOM is a major subordinate command of the U . S .
