   JOB SUMMARY:
   This position reports to the Juvenile Detention Center Director/Assistant Director and serves as therapist for the Juvenile Justice System.  The therapist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and conducting groups, programs, and classes to meet the therapeutic needs of the clients served.
   Master’s degree with ability to obtain professional licensure is required. Candidate must be at least 21 years old.  All applicants must submit to criminal, Department of Child Services, and sex offender registry background checks.

   JOB DUTIES:
   Plans, coordinates, and conducts groups/classes for providing educational, cognitive, behavioral, and life skills services and programs for detained juveniles, participants of the Day Reporting Center, and any other youth involved with juvenile justice services.
   Establishes specific program goals and individual behavior plans (if needed) for the juvenile while in detention, consistent with the juvenile’s case plan, and evaluates the juvenile’s individual progress toward those goals. 
   Provides crisis intervention and management for residents as needed and identified.
   Assists with the system’s problem solving courts as directed.
   Assists in the staffing and supervision of the system’s crisis intervention team.
   Attends staff meetings and workshop/training seminars as requested or required by facility and/or state rules and regulations, including 80 hours of initial on the job orientation training and ongoing annual required training.
   REQUIREMENTS:
   Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work required.  Ability to obtain professional licensure (ie: LSW, LCSW, LMHC, MFTA) within one year of hire date is required. 
   Must be at least twenty-one years of age.
   Must reside in/or be willing to move to Porter County
   Experience working with groups, classes, or programs. Preferably with juveniles.
   Ability to work with or be exposed to potentially violent/irate individuals.
   Ability to pass a criminal records check, sex offender registry check, and Department of Child Services record review.
   Ability to serve on 24-hour call and respond swiftly, rationally, and decisively to emergency situations.
   Possession of a valid driver’s license and demonstrated safe driving record.
