Hazlet Township Collaborates with Partner to Operate Swim Club 
   At a time when trained lifeguards and certified pool professionals are hard to hire and labor costs keep rising , the Hazlet Township Committee has entered into a partnership that will keep the Hazlet Swim Club gates open , while also producing additional compensation .  
   Under the direction of the Hazlet Township , private camp operator Camp Coconuts of Middletown will augment the township’s lifeguard staff to sustain operations at the Hazlet Swim Club during normal operations and provide a certified pool director , as required by the state . Camp Coconuts will pay the township $75 , 000 in additional compensation . Financial terms of the agreement will be announced to the public prior to the governing body’s next meeting
   on Tuesday , May 24 .
   “The Township Committee is pleased to announce this collaboration with Camp Coconuts , which has been a strong and reliable partner for Hazlet Township in the past two years while we faced the challenge of operating under Covid conditions , ” said Committeeman Skip McKay . “We are looking forward to another wonderful summer season at the Swim Club . ” 
   The agreement states that all Swim Club and Hazlet Recreation staff will report to the Hazlet Recreation Director , who will run the Swim Club and Recreation Camp .  
   Unlike the past two years , the Swim Club is currently not required to operate under COVID - 19 prevention protocols . That means Swim Club members and campers will share all of the Swim Club areas . Camp Coconuts will have exclusive use of the pool
   from 8:45 a . m . to 11 a . m . Monday
    through Friday . Just as before , Hazlet Swim Club will welcome members and their guests daily , from
   11 a . m . to 8 p . m .
   Camp Coconuts campers may use the pools in groups during weekday afternoons , along with Hazlet Recreation . Camper groups will be coordinated by the Hazlet Recreation Director and his staff .  
   The Hazlet Swim and Tennis Club recently marked its 50
   th
    year . The spacious Swim Club , which is operated by Hazlet Township as a self - sustaining utility , is located on Green Acres Drive . It features an Olympic - sized pool and three other pools , a concession stand and welcomes members from in and outside Hazlet Township . Memberships are on sale now . Information is available at
