Are you an individual that has a love for inspiring young minds, has excellent customer service skills and wants to positively contribute to our local community? If so, we’d like to introduce you to our term Summer Day Camp Leader position opening!
Reporting to the Recreation Program Facilitator, the Summer Day Camp Leader works within a team to help lead a program that encourages participants to improve their self-confidence/independence, builds skills, and creates a fun/unique experience for them. As the primary caregivers for participants, you are responsible for creating a positive environment for them and ensuring their health and safety. The term duration will be from approximately June 20 – August 26, 2022, based on 40-hour work weeks, Monday – Friday.

Responsibilities
Provide leadership and act as a positive role model for participants.
Supervise participants throughout all activities.
Engage participants in a positive and encouraging environment.
Plan, facilitate, and adapt programming.
Be familiar with the medical conditions, dietary restrictions, and/or behavioural concerns of participants and act according to information and training provided if needed.
Ensure that safety standards and procedures are maintained.
Report any accidents/incidents to the Recreation Program Facilitator.
Assist in cleaning up after activities and at the end of each day.
Adhere to all City of Wetaskiwin Policies and Procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
High School/College/University or equivalent.
Have, or be willing to obtain Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certificates.
Provide a clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.
Experience or interest in working with children/youth.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Grant Requirements
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge and understanding of recreation service delivery and customer service.
Able to work independently and as part of the team.
Applicants must be between 15-30 years of age.
Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and
Must be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations
*International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
