Local weather reports indicate that Glastonbury and surrounding communities may see significant snowfall beginning in the early morning hours on Tuesday February 13 , 2024 and continuing into the afternoon or early evening . In anticipation of heavy snowfall , the following activities are suggested to best weather the storm:
   Avoid travel during peak storm hours
   Locate snow shovels and ice - melting products* to treat driveways and walkways
   If you must go outdoors , dress in warm layers and keep your face , fingers , and toes dry and covered
   Park vehicles in garages/carports when possible
   Check in with elderly and disabled neighbors
   In the event of extended power outages:
   Fill your bathtub with water to use for flushing toilets
   Fuel vehicles and generators , and test generators to ensure they are working properly
   Charge phones , mobile devices , and essential medical devices
   Check/replace batteries in flashlights
   Prepare blankets and warm clothing for all household members
   Have a supply of water , food , and medication for all family members and pets
   *Residents can obtain a sand/salt mixture free of charge by visiting one of
   several Town propertiesbefore or after the storm event .
