( Jackson Twp . , OH ) – Tasha Catron looks forward to a new opportunity to help shape healthier and more equitable communities .
Catron , the Diversity , Equity and Inclusion Specialist with the Stark County Health Department , was one of 15 public health professionals from around the country selected as a Cohort 4 scholar for the Diverse Executives Leading in Public Health ( DELPH ) program .
The program is designed to enhance the capacity and strengthen the networks of mid - to - senior level public health professionals who identify from underrepresented groups including people of color , disability status , women and LGBTQ+ individuals . DELPH scholars were selected by the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials ( ASTHO ) and Satcher Health Leadership Institute at the Morehouse School of Medicine and are funded by the Centers for Disease Control .
“I’m excited to collaborate with my fellow scholars and leaders as part of this cohort to further my public health career , ” said Catron , who has worked with the Stark County Health Department since 2008 . “This program is committed to ensuring a knowledgeable , well - prepared workforce of public health professionals , including practitioners who reflect the diversity of the communities they serve . ”
Catron was selected following an application process that included a resume , video submission and letters of recommendation . As part of the 10 - month program , she will complete self - study modules , participate in cohort discussions and serve as an ambassador to help recruit and retain diverse leadership candidates for the health department . She is also set to attend a conference with her fellow scholars in Washington D . C . next month .
