The Army just launched a new survey where Soldiers can anonymously voice their concerns directly to Army leadership . It ' s called the Department of the Army Career Engagement Survey ( DACES ) and it replaces the old exit surveys given to Soldiers leaving the Army . DACES is a customized survey that tailors questions to each Soldier based on their previous responses , so it ' s quicker and more efficient . Soldiers will also have the chance to request more information about career opportunities or be contacted for further details . Starting in May , Soldiers will receive a link to the DACES web page in their email during their birth month . They ' ll also have to complete the survey as part of their out - processing requirements upon leaving the Army . The results of DACES will be used to improve retention efforts and create incentives and programs to enhance quality of life for Soldiers . The survey results won ' t be shared with a Soldier ' s chain of command or personnel manager , so they can be candid in their responses . The first surveys have already been sent out , and Soldiers can only take DACES on a DOD - furnished computer , through a DOD network , or using CITRIX . For more information , contact the DACES support team at usarmy . pentagon . hqda - dcs - g - 1 . mbx . daces - survey - support@mail . mil .
