NOTICE OF POSITION VACANCY
TITLE: Senior Lifeguard (Seasonal/temporary position - multiple vacancies)
DEPT: Recreation and Parks
SALARY: $11.33 per hour
DATE POSITION AVAILABLE: May 6, 2022
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
A
Lifeguard’s
primary responsibility is to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons and fellow staff. They need to keep the pool area clean and well maintained with a focus of safety at the forefront. A lifeguard must also ensure that pool water maintains a superior hygienic level and safety standards are adhered to. Additionally, lifeguard’s welcome patrons to the pool facility and create a courteous and friendly atmosphere for guests to enjoy. Lifeguards should be attentive to the patrons needs, handle problems in a professional manner, and be conscientious of the importance of safety.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Ensures patrons are aware of all services and activities available at the pool.
Ensures that proper pool testing has taken place prior to patrons using the facility.
Ensures all patrons are aware of the rules and regulations of the facility.
Makes sure the swimming pool is clean and constantly monitors swimming pool activity.
Ensures the loungers and chairs are clean; umbrellas are in good working condition and are in the correct position.
Uses appropriate rescue techniques if observing swimmers in need of assistance.
Observes the pool facility for dangerous conditions, unusual or unsafe activities, and swimmers who are struggling.
Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas or activities.
Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aid.
Assists in the cleanliness and the daily upkeep of the pool facility.
Consistently offers professional and friendly services to all pool patrons.
Provides an elevated level of guest satisfaction and safety through effective levels of communication.
Reports accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager.
Attends and completes in-service safety training and certifications as required by management.
Always follows TOBM policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all patrons.
Performs other similar tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
*Must possess a current NC driver’s license or NC Identification Card
*Must possess American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR Training Certification
*Must be available to work an average of 30-40 hours per week during the season
*Applicant must have the availability to work from 7am-11pm with flexibility for days that may have split hours
*Applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively and be a collaborator
*Must have a minimum of two years of paid lifeguard experience with a community swimming pool
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the force for heavy lifting, pulling, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, sitting, and climbing to manipulate objects; this position also requires visual acuity and the ability to orally communicate effectively with guests.
Applicant must possess the ability to make rational decisions concerning the safety of all patrons.
